  News from FIP Member Organisations Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) In a recent www2 journal www2 editorial it was announced that the PSA will soon launch a Framework for pharmacists www2 as partners in the mental health www2 care team, which has been developed in consultation with an expert steering committee of multi-disciplinary colleagues.Visit the PSA website here for more information. Irish Pharmacy Union Earlier in the fall the IPU and its colleagues www2 in the Self-Care Working Group released a report entitled "Self-Care First – A Self-Care Framework for Ireland".The report was released as a concerted effort by IPU and fellow stakeholders who are seeking to increase policy focus on the benefits for the wider healthcare system of a more structured approach to self-care. News from WHO NCDs The first-ever global monitoring framework to combat Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was agreed by WHO member states on early November 2012 The framework comprises nine voluntary global targets and 25 indicators to prevent and control noncommunicable diseases.These 25 indicators are gathered into three groups: Exposure to risk factors, Outcomes and Health systems responses Among the Health systems indicators, pharmacists should pay attention to three of these: Drug therapy to prevent heart attacks and strokes (includes glycemic control), and counseling for people aged 40 years and over with a 10-year cardiovascular risk greater than or equal to 30% (includes those with existing cardiovascular disease).
